NEWS & NOTEWORTHY

Vandalia recently celebrated a number of milestones, including the Grand Opening of the Grafton B&O Railroad Heritage Center--located in the 1911 train station in historic downtown Grafton. The organization continues to carry out its charitable mission, through broad-based efforts in Victorian Wheeling, Calhoun County, and a number of other communities in its coverage area.

GRAFTON B&O RAILROAD HERITAGE CENTER GRAND OPENING
OCTOBER 20, 2006 (GRAFTON, TAYLOR COUNTY)


Congressman Alan B. Mollohan (WV-1st) joined Vandalia Heritage Foundation officials and community leaders & residents for the Grand Opening of the
Grafton B&O Heritage Center on October 20, 2006.




The 1911 B&O Station has returned to its role as the "hub of activity" in Grafton. It now houses the Grafton B&O Railroad Heritage Center--a non-profit organization that promotes heritage education and community outreach throughout
the region.

JAMISON HOUSE GRANT CHECK PRESENTATION
OCTOBER 20, 2006 (WHEELING, OHIO COUNTY)


Betty Woods "Snookie" Nutting, President of the Victorian Wheeling Landmarks Foundation (right) accepts a check from Vandalia Heritage Foundation, for the renovation of the Jamison House in the North Wheeling Historic District on October 20, 2006. Presenting the check on behalf of Vandalia Heritage Foundation were Laura Kurtz Kuhns, President/CEO (left) and Congressman Alan B. Mollohan (WV-1st). Vandalia's check was a match for a grant that the Landmarks Foundation received from the State Historic Preservation Office. The Jamison House, which is located on the first block of the historic district, is a critically important part of North Wheeling's historic and cultural fabric.

CALHOUN COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY/
QUALITY SHOP SUB-GRANT AWARD
DECEMBER 1, 2006 (GRANTSVILLE, CALHOUN COUNTY)

Vandalia Heritage Foundation has provided funding to the Calhoun County Historical & Genealogical Society to help turn a local landmark building adjacent to the historic Stump Hotel into a history and research center that will help county residents and visitors learn more about their family roots
and cultural heritage.
