Legacy
"Collecting, Preserving, and Communicating Family, Local, and Regional Histories in a Variety of Venues."
About Legacy--
Vandalia's Legacy Project is charged with the unique mission of preserving the "unbuilt environment" — the rich cultural heritage of northern West Virginia. Formed in 2001, this community development and historic preservation initiative is charged with the mission of "collecting, preserving, and communicating family, local, and regional histories in a variety of venues."
Legacy is a multi-faceted preservation instrument, consisting of the Legacy Project, with five charter sites and a headquarters in Fairmont (see below), and the Legacy Program, which promotes broader based community efforts, including heritage tourism, through regional cultural projects, oral histories, publications, documentaries, and music.
