Laura Kurtz Kuhns
President/Chief Executive Officer
In addition to her key role at Vandalia, Ms. Kuhns was reappointed in 2004 to a three year term on the Board of Advisors of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Additionally, she serves on Board of Directors of the National Housing Development Corporation, the Mountain Made Foundation, Fairmont Renaissance Corporation, and the Institute for Scientific Research (ISR). Additionally, she is in her second year as a member of the Glenville State College Board of Governors. Her previous service includes two terms with the West Virginia Council for Community and Economic Development, concurrent terms on the Board of Directors of the Marion County Chamber of Commerce and the Fairmont Industrial Credit Corporation, and a six-year tenure on the State EPSCoR Committee, a National Science Foundation initiative to stimulate competitive research in rural states.
Ms. Kuhns holds a B.S. in Journalism from West Virginia University and has studied public administration at the graduate level. She is a licensed real estate associate in West Virginia and was selected to study Japanese trade in Tokyo in 1993 and competitive advantage at Harvard University's Graduate School of Business in 1994. In 1998, Ms. Kuhns completed the course "Renovation and Adaptive Reuse of Older Buildings" at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Additionally, she has completed multiple courses through the Certified Commercial Investment Management (CCIM) Institute. A native of Weston who grew up in a small business family, Ms. Kuhns currently resides in Fairmont with her husband Don.
