Archival/Curatorial Services

Dusty Mathews is the Manager of Heritage Programs for the Vandalia Heritage Foundation. She collaborates with Vandalia's historic preservation and community development teams to promote the Legacy Program mission of "collecting, preserving, and communicating local, family, and regional histories in a variety of venues." Ms. Mathews further supports Vandalia's mission of "economic revitalization through historic preservation" by providing technical assistance to local organizations concerned with the preservation of the "unbuilt" environment.

In addition to providing assistance to the Legacy Project sites, Ms. Mathews assists Vandalia staff in developing components of the Legacy Program; an umbrella program charged with preserving the rich history and heritage of northern West Virginia. Ms. Mathews works closely with Vandalia's partners to further Legacy Program initiatives, including a number of oral history projects.

Additional responsibilities for Ms. Mathews include assisting Vandalia's Director of Community Development in community outreach activities and grant development.

Ms. Mathews holds a B.A. in English with a minor in Appalachian Folklore from Fairmont State University (FSU). While at FSU, Dusty worked as a student assistant in the West Virginia Folklife Center and served as student editor for two editions of Traditions, the West Virginia Folklife journal.
