THE AURORA ARTISAN PROJECT
Preston County, WV

The Aurora Project, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in 2001 to develop and manage the facilities and programs of a residential cultural center. This effort involves the restoration of the General Store, the Keystone Cottage and the Sycamore Cottage. Upon completion of the project, living and working space will be available for five artists to begin six-week residencies and additional accommodations and work space will be available for the Adult Community/Elderhostel Programs. Vandalia has worked with the Aurora Project since 2001, first funding its acquisition of the five cottages and subsequently assisting with the planning and restoration/renovation of the initial phase.

Additional programs supported by the Aurora Project include the Artist's Residency Program, Lifelong Learning Program, Artists and the Community Program, and Experiential Learning Program. These programs are designed to sustain and support a broader public awareness and appreciation of the relationship between the arts, humanities, our environment and everyday life.
